You must consider the fact that Buck Rogers, Scooby Doo, Godzilla all share the common fate of being well established characters who have done just fine on their own for years, if not decades, only to have a modern incarnation of themselves introduced into society wherein some hollywood douchebag executive or team of douchebags decides that the character will do better if a tiny cute sidekick were crammed next to him... to help him be more 'likeable' for the new generation of fans. The execs do not trust that the character can stand on their own so they need to meddle with the already established creation. Sadly and stupidly Scotty has joined that pantheon characters who have had a cute tiny sidekick thrust upon them if only to sell more dumb toys. I AM NOT A NERD.
